Royal Canadian air cadets

What do Air Cadets Do?

Air Cadets participate in a range of dynamic training over the course of the school year and over the summer at one of our Summer Training Centres.

Subjects include:
  • Citizenship
  • Leadership
  • Aviation
  • Aerospace
  • Navigation
  • Drill
  • Physical Fitness
  • Aircrew Survival
  • Marksmanship
Our Squadron training is delivered on Thursday nights in a way to provide Cadets a practical opportunity to use the knowledge they learn.  Cadets will further develop a sense of responsibility, teamwork and leadership and many skills they can use throughout their lives.
Cadets are also welcome to participate in optional training throughout the week in drill, marksmanship, band and aviation.
Select Cadets have the opportunity to attend Summer Training Centres.  First year Cadets may attend a two week General Training Course while Cadets progressing through the program become eligible for three and six week specialist courses to further develop the knowledge learned at the Squadron.
Many of our Cadets have moved on to rewarding careers both within the Canadian Forces and the civilian market.  The discipline, leadership and instructional skills that they learn and develop are often transferred into their chosen profession.

How much does it cost?

This is a question we are often asked.  Costs many people might associate with the Cadet Program include:
  • Registration
  • Annual Fees
  • Uniform
  • Training Supplies
  • Summer Camp
    • Transportation
    • Lodging
    • Meals
    • Course Fees
All these items are provided at No Cost to the Cadet.
We are able to provide our training due to our partnership between the Canadian Forces and the Air Cadet League.  While the program is provided at no cost Cadets will be expected to assist in fundraising opportunities put forward by our Sponsoring Committee.  The fundraising is put towards our training facilities and costs associated with some optional activities.
